Scissor Lift and Cherry Picker

Mobile Elevated Work Platform’s (MEWP’s), commonly known as Scissor Lift’s or Cherry Picker’s. They are powered machines designed to provide temporary, safe access to elevated areas. This is classed as a safer and more stable alternative to ladders or scaffolding. These versatile platforms include scissor lifts (which lift vertically) and boom lifts (cherry picker) which offer both vertical and horizontal reach. MEWP’s are used within various sectors including construction and warehouse for tasks such as installing equipment, maintenance & inspections.
Training is provided on the following categories:
-
1A – Static Vertical (Driven into position, but cannot drive elevated)
-
1B – Static Boom (Driven into position, but cannot drive elevated)
-
3A – Mobile Vertical (Can drive elevated)
-
3B – Mobile Boom (Can drive elevated)

On-Site Courses and Facilities Required
The course will be delivered on your premises. This will give your employees the advantage of being trained and tested on the MEWP they will use after training has been completed, safely and efficiently.
Training can be tailored/bespoke to your business requirements, but the following facilities will be required:
-
Access to your MEWP, harnesses’ and pallets
-
An area large enough for basic & advanced manoeuvring and testing
-
For theory training – an area large enough for the instructor and the trainees to work, with chairs, tables and a power supply
-
It is recommended that all MEWP operators wear safety footwear, headwear, a harness and a hi-visibility vest. Other personal protective equipment is as per the company’s SSOW/RA
Certification
After completing the course you will receive:
-
A certificate e-mailed to you
-
If you have applied for ITSSAR TOPS* (Trained Operators Passport Scheme), you will be registered onto the TOPS database, have your own TOPS number and receive a photo identification card.
* There is an additional charge of £20 per trainee. This covers the registration onto the TOPS database and card
After Care
After completing the training, feedback (verbally and written) will be given to both the trainee and their manager on the trainee’s performance including any recommendations.
